As we move towards the end of May, a few vineyards are still in blossom and others are setting fruit. We started catching the Grape Berry moth, Paralobesia viteana, in a field site in Johnston Co.

Leafhoppers and sharpshooters maintain their numbers compared to last week and seemed to be more abundant in the edges of the fields.

Also, our first catches of the three cornered alfalfa hopper, Spissistilus festinus, occurred at both Northeast and Southeast  fields. This insect is the vector of Grapevine red blotch associated virus (GRBV ).
