This week Cliff Ruth told me they were finding red headed flea beetle adults and larvae in mountain nurseries. They became active in Raleigh a couple weeks ago
around when Magnolia grandiflora were blooming. Bifenthrin, imidacloprid, dinotefuran, and products that combine a pyrethroid with a neonicotinoid are among the products that can reduce adult damage in nurseries. However, these beetles are tough to manage since they have multiple generations and life stages above and below ground. You can read more in a fact sheet from UD and in a previous post.
